Simon heads up the Coal & Ash Operations section of the Drax business and is responsible for ensuring that all six of Drax’s boilers are fed with coal 24 hours a day 365 days of the year.

The combustion process creates ash that Drax sells on. It is Simon’s responsibility to ensure that the furnace bottom ash (FBA) and pulverised fuel ash (PFA) created is of a quality that can be sold on to the construction industry.

On a day-to-day basis, Simon ensures that safety and environmental standards are maintained and operational performance is sustained over time by the forward planning of coal deliveries.
