Our involvement with our local community is furthered through charitable donations and sponsorship activities. These may take the form of donations directly from the company, or through requests or employee activities.

For example, each month the Drax sponsorship committee meets to consider requests sent in from a range of groups and organisations. The objectives of the committee are to ensure that sponsorship monies are allocated across a range of community and environmental interests, good causes and sporting activities. The catchment area covers a 20 mile radius of Drax Power Station, covering Doncaster, Pontefract, Selby and York.

Sponsorship monies have been used to help a variety of local causes from sponsoring a concert at Selby Abbey in aid of the Selby Abbey Appeal for restoration work to sponsoring new strips for junior football and rugby clubs.

In addition to the sponsorship scheme, Drax also operates a “£ for £” matching scheme, under which Drax will match, pound for pound, any monies raised for charity or good causes by employees at the power station.
