Junior Road Safety Officers attend fun filled day at Drax

32 excited children from the Selby, Tadcaster and Sherburn areas arrived at Drax Power Station on the 11 November, as part of the Junior Road Safety Officer (JRSO) scheme, which Drax is proudly sponsoring for the third year running.
Drax Young Player of the Year Award
16 year old David Knight was awarded the annual Drax Power Young Player of the Year Award and a £100 cash prize at the league's annual dinner at York Racecourse on 20 September.
Drax builds on success of last year's Charity Golf Day event

Stop, Look, Listen, Live and Win!
Two year 6 pupils from Hambleton CE Primary School were thrilled to win first prize in this year’s North Yorkshire County Council Junior Road Safety Officer Scheme. The initiative, which Drax has sponsored for the past two years, helps contribute to reducing the number of casualties on the roads and is organised by the councils Road Safety and Travel Awareness Team.
Headingley Carnegie on Fire with Young Cricketing Talent
Four teams from the four corners of Yorkshire came together on a very rainy 26 June to battle it out on the famous Headingley Carnegie cricket ground to become the winners of this years Drax Cup 2008.
Farewell to CUTLASS
Drax Power Limited bid a final farewell to its CUTLASS plant operating system on Thursday 3 April at an official turn off event in the station’s control room. CUTLASS is being replaced in favour of the modern APMS (Advanced Plant Management System), changing the operation of the power station from the touch of a button to the click of a mouse.
Art exhibition wows Morrisons’ shoppers
Morrisons in Selby became the venue for an exclusive art exhibition for two weeks in January and February this year.

James Kernaghan was crowned Empower Apprentice of the Year 2007 at a glittering ceremony which took place in early November at Eastwood Hall, Nottingham.
Award ceremony for artist stars
Drax Power Limited’s first ever Art In The Community competition revealed a high level of artistic talent from a number of local schools. The twelve winners from four age categories were invited to a specially organised awards ceremony in December, which took place in the newly refurbished restaurant at Drax.
Cricketing glory for under 13s team
Amateur young cricketers achieve glory at The Lady Taverners cricket competition. The under 13 girl’s team from Holy Family Catholic High School, Carlton triumphed in the one day league, the highest level of competition for this age group, which was played at the Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
