North Lincolnshire Council backs renewable energy plant

Drax Power Limited (“Drax”), the developer of the Heron Renewable Energy Plant, is delighted to announce that North Lincolnshire Council has decided not to object to its application for 290MW biomass-fired power station that will provide enough green energy to meet the needs of 512,000 homes. The North Lincolnshire Planning Committee voted unanimously to back the proposal in their response to the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

Young artists from the Selby and Goole area are celebrating success in the Drax ‘Art in the Community’ competition. The finalists received their prizes during an awards ceremony on Wednesday 2 December in front of an invited audience of parents and teachers at Drax Power Station.

Local children involved in a scheme to promote road safety visited Drax Power Station recently (19 November) where they were promptly rounded up by the ‘Seatbelt Sheriff’ and made to swear an oath of allegiance to always wear their seatbelts.

A group of budding artists, all aged between 7-13 years old attended a two-day Summer Art School at Drax Power Station supported by York-based artist Lesley Seeger who has been painting full-time for 15 years and produces vibrant interpretations of nature and its shapes.
